Real Estate
Our real estate team will represent you and your best interests through the entire real estate transaction. We provide full service to our clients buying and selling both residential and commercial property. Our team will prepare and review all the documents related to your deal, and ensure the closing documentation is properly executed and finalized.
Wills and Powers of Attorney
An improperly drafted Will can mean that your beneficiaries may not be the ones who inherit, and that your assets are tied up for years in litigation. Our Wills and Estate team has the expertise to advise you on estate planning, and to prepare your Will and Powers of Attorney for Property and Personal Care. We will help you ensure that your wishes are stated clearly and carried out.
Estate Administration
Our estate administration team assists estate trustees throughout the process, including applying to the court for the appointment of an estate trustee, administering the estate, distributing the estate to beneficiaries and providing guidance and advice whenever needed. We will also guide and advise our clients in any case where a family member did not have a Will, and assist in estate administration where there is an intestacy.
Municipal Law
Our municipal law team has extensive experience in representing municipalities, including preparing subdivision agreements, representing municipalities before the Ontario Municipal Board, prosecuting by-laws, drafting by-laws and negotiating agreements. We also represent individuals and corporations on planning matters and defending by-law prosecutions.
Civil Litigation
When parties are involved in a legal dispute, our litigation team will represent your best interests in either negotiating a resolution or going to court to have the matter resolved. We will represent you in all the associated proceedings of a dispute, including starting a legal claim, defending a legal claim, negotiations, examinations for discoveries, mediation, pre-trial hearing and trial. Corporate Law
Our corporate team has the business and financial acumen to represent you on your transactions and advise you on your corporation’s legal rights and duties, including the duties and responsibilities of corporate officers. We will provide full service to our corporations, including incorporation, preparing shareholder agreements, representing you in business acquisitions, preparing all necessary closing documents and assisting in corporate reorganization.
Employment Law
Our employment team provides legal advice to both employees and employers. We advise employees on their rights in the workplace and represent employees who have been terminated from their jobs to ensure that they receive a fair termination package. We advise employers on managing workplace relationships, draft employment contracts and represent them in wrongful termination claims. In resolving employment matters, we will explain the applicable laws and the options available, which may include litigation, mediation, negotiation or other actions. We will help investigate the pros and cons of each option and provide advice about the best way to proceed to ensure the best possible resolution.
Construction Liens
If you have provided work or materials to a job site in Ontario that helps to improve the land, in the event of non-payment you can file an Ontario construction lien. Our construction lien team has experience acting for trades to compel payment of outstanding accounts, as well as acting for property owners to challenge the validity or timing of the registration of a lien.
